Registrations and licences for wholesalers, importers and distributors
Most of the companies on our books are wholesalers and distributors. A missing EORI stops a consignment at the port; a missing AWRS makes a drinks line an offence; the wrong tier of waste registration leaves a logistics firm unregistered. We have written procedures for each.

EORI, GB and XI
Needed to import, export and register for licences. Free and quick. Northern Ireland movements need the separate XI number, which needs the GB one first.
VAT registration
Mandatory past £90,000 of taxable turnover in any rolling 12 months. Prepared by us, submitted from your own Gateway with us on the call, then chased.
AWRS for alcohol lines
HMRC approval before you sell alcohol to other businesses. No fee, a fit-and-proper test and a 45-day minimum notice period.
MHRA licence for medicines
Honest qualification first. A four-figure fee, around 90 days, an inspection and a Responsible Person. Right for a real pharmaceutical wholesaler, wrong for most.
Food registration for food brokers
Free, cannot be refused, and required even with no food on the premises. Puts you on the hygiene inspection list.
Waste carrier for logistics
If your vehicles move waste, you need the right tier. Lower tier is free and rarely enough.

Common questions
We import from the EU and sell in the UK. What do we need first?
A GB EORI, then VAT if you are at or heading past the threshold, and a customs intermediary if you are not handling declarations yourself. If any of it moves through Northern Ireland, the XI EORI as well. We do the first three in one sitting.
We are a general wholesaler thinking of adding alcohol. What changes?
AWRS approval before the first sale, with a 45-day minimum notice. There is no fee, but the fit-and-proper assessment looks at the people running the business and at your tax record. Get the filing record clean first.
Someone offered us a company with a VAT number already attached. Is that normal?
Be careful. A VAT registration on a company that has never traded was obtained by declaring an intention to trade that did not exist, and the quarterly returns since then are either missing or fictional. We do not sell companies that way.
